Barmi Gali to Beeran Gali Snow Trek

A descent through the forests below Thandiani to the village of Beeran Gali. The walk from Thandiani down to Beeran Gali is the first stage of the classic Thandiani-Nathia Gali trek.³

The club walked this route in snow in February.

Beeran Gali was once called Baad Burhan; Al Biruni mentioned it as a beautiful area in his Ta'rikh al-Hind (c. 1030).⁷

Thandiani, the hill station above Barmi Gali, is about 37.5 km north-east of Abbottabad; roughly 3 hours by bus from Abbottabad according to Graana.²⁵

Beeran Gali can be reached from Abbottabad via Harnoi Bazaar and then a jeep track to Beeran Gali (Pak Frugal Traveler).⁶

• Leopards live in these forests; do not walk after dark.³²
• In snow, carry traction (microspikes), warm layers and extra daylight margin; check road and weather conditions first.
