Overview

A day hike in the hills around Kakul, the valley north-east of Abbottabad best known for the Pakistan Military Academy. The Laida section is a local name with no public documentation.¹³

A little history

Kakul was historically a Jadoon Pashtun village; after a Boer War prisoner-of-war camp (around 1899-1902) it became an army mountaineering and PT school and, from 1947-48, the Pakistan Military Academy.¹

How to get there

From Abbottabad's main bazaar take a rickshaw or local bus towards Kakul, or walk about 5 km along Kakul Road.³
